In the last years there has been a Green revolution. Today, millions of ordinary people, both young and old, understand that we need a cleaner and a healthier planet. Some of them belong to Green organisations in countries all over the world.

Here's a list of some of them.

 

Climate Crisis

Organisation concerned about global warming. In fact, we have a moral obligation to do so. Small changes to our daily routine can add up to big differences in helping to stop global warming. The time to come together to solve this problem is now. They think we can have influence on our schools, workplaces, businesses, and on society through how we make purchases, invest, take action, and vote.

Friends of the Earth

Friends of the Earth is fighting to defend the environment and create a more healthy and just world. Their current campaigns focus on promoting clean energy and solutions to climate change, keeping toxic and risky technologies out of the food we eat and products we use, and protecting marine ecosystems and the people who live and work near them.

 

Greenpeace

Greenpeace exists around the world because this fragile Earth deserves a voice. It needs solutions.It needs change. It needs action!

They work on issues like climate change, forests, oceans, agriculture, toxic pollution and nuclear.

 

Live Earth

Founded in partnership with former US Vice Presidente Al Gore, Live Earth was built upon the belief that entertainment has the power to transcend social and cultural barriers to move communty to action.

 

Project Aware

Project AWARE Foundation is a registered nonprofit organization. In partnership with scuba divers and water enthusiasts, Project AWARE offices located in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Switzerland and Japan combine efforts to conserve aquatic resources in more than 180 countries and territories of the world.

 

Solar Neighbors Program

A community program whereby celebrities enjoy and help bring attention to the benefits of solar power, and in partnership with BP, the Enterprise Foundation, and the Environmental Media Association, help low-income families use solar power to reduce their energy bills.

 

Stop Global Warming

Movement to demand our leaders to freeze and reduce carbon dioxide emissions now. As we are all contributors to global warming we also all need to be part of the solution.

 

The Climate Project

A program of the Alliance for Climate Protection, The Climate Project (TCP) represents a global force consisting of specially trained climate activists who are dedicated to educating people about the urgency and solvability of the climate crisis at a grassroots level worldwide. With nine official branches and a reach in more than 50 countries, TCP supports more than 3,000 diverse and dedicated volunteers, all personally trained by TCP’s founder, Al Gore, to present an updated version of the slide show featured in the Academy Award-winning film, An Inconvenient Truth. Since TCP first began in 2006, TCP “Presenters” have delivered more than 70,000 presentations reaching a combined global audience of more than 7.3 million people, sharing our message that the climate crisis is real and the time to act is now.

 

The Earth Charter Iniciative

It is an extraordinarily diverse, global network of people, organizations and institutions that participate in promoting and implementing the values and principles of the Earth Charter.

 

The Prince’s Rainforests Project

The Prince’s Rainforests Project (PRP) was set up in 2007 by HRH The Prince of Wales following reports from leading climate change experts confirming the high level of carbon emissions caused by tropical deforestation, with the goal of “making the forests worth more alive than dead”.

 

Quercus

Quercus is a Portuguese environmental organisation founded in 1985. The name Quercus is used because the Oak (Quercus in Latin) is one of the species that is characteristic from our country and that nowadays is more rare. It is headquartered in the Monsanto Forest Park, in Lisbon. On their website, Quercus declares itself to be a non-profit national environment organization, independent from political parties.

 

Rainforest Foundation

The mission of the Rainforest Foundation is to support indigenous and traditional people of the world's rainforests in their efforts to protect their environment and fulfill their rights.

 

United Nations

The UN also tries to ensure environmental stability. In their website you can find some reports and their millenium environmental goals for 2015.

 

Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)

The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild lands through careful science, international conservation, education, and the management of the world’s largest system of urban wildlife parks. These activities change attitudes toward nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in sustainable interaction on both a local and a global scale. WCS is committed to this work because we believe it essential to the integrity of life on Earth.

 

World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF)

World Wild Fund's ultimate goal is to build a future where people live in harmony with nature, providing to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment. It is present worldwilde, also in Portugal, where it support many iniciatives.
